Techno producer Raffaele Attanasio admitted to intensive care after heart surgery

Italian techno producer Raffaele Attanasio has been admitted to intensive care to recover following heart surgery, his management have said.

The Naples-born DJ and producer underwent heart surgery earlier this week, his management company YAM Agency revealed on Instagram stories (via Resident Advisor).

They confirmed that the surgery was successful, and that he is now “in intensive care to recover”. They explained: “We will provide updates in the coming days. For now, please don’t ask questions. This is all we can communicate.”

Raffaele Attanasio has remained an active member of Italy’s techno scene since the ‘00s, regularly performing across Naples, Sicily, Rome, and more, also performing internationally.

With releases across labels including Mutual Rytm, Involve, Axis, Krill Music, and his record label, Letters From Jerusalem, Raffaele emerged as a prominent techno DJ and producer.

Over the course of his career, he’s collaborated with the likes of Jeff Mills, Octave One, Gaetano Parisio, and The Nitzer Ebb’s Douglas J. McCharty.

Raffaele also co-founded The Sacred Weapons, a group of musicians influenced by psychedelic rock and dance music from the ‘70s - ‘90s.

We’ll report more on this story as updates come in.
