Take a look backstage with Modeselektor's Sebastian Szary

Backstage ain't as glamorous as you think

Modeselektor's Sebastian Szary has put together a photobook that focuses on the various green rooms and backstage areas that he's come across while on tour.

'Backstage Tristesse' features images taken while Szary was on the road with Moderat, the group he's in with the other guy out of Modeselektor, Gernot Bronsert, and Apparat, aka musician and vocalist Sascha Ring.

It's loaded with the promise of hedonism, with pictures showing the detritus of the party lifestyle, but brilliantly mundane too, as if modernist furniture is the only thing keeping Szary company.

Here's what he has to say of the project: "What can I say...? I'm not a man of many words. But I'll try: Being 'on tour' feels like an almost carefree life - kind of passive and without any real commitments. You live in the present. And tomorrow will pretty much be like today. Always the same. Everything for music. It's great and at the same time dull, but always fun."

'Backstage Tristesse' is comprised of 100 photos, some of which you can see above. Get it here.
