Man suspected with the murder of Migos' Takeoff charged with murder
Patrick Xavier Clark was indicted in court yesterday for the killing that took place in November 2022
Patrick Xavier Clark, the alleged murderer of Migos rapper Takeoff, has been indicted in court, according to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Clark appeared in front of a Texas grand jury in court yesterday, May 25, where he was formally charged with the murder of Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, in November.
Takeoff was shot and killed on November 11 in Houston, Texas, after a fight broke out over a game of dice. The 28-year-old rapper was at a party with fellow Migos rapper Quavo.
The rapper was shot in the head and torso, according to police, and was called an ‘innocent bystander’ at the time of his death. He was unarmed at the time of the shooting.
Clark was arrested by Houston Police Department in December and was later released from the Harris County Jail in January on a $1 million bond.
Speaking to TMZ yesterday, Clark’s lawyer, Carl Moore, said: "Today’s action by the grand jury is not unexpected. We would ask people to remember that getting an indictment requires meeting a very, very minimal standard of proof.”
“When we get inside a courtroom and in front of a jury, where we will be able to put on our evidence and cross-examine the state’s witnesses— where the standard of proof is guilt beyond a reasonable doubt— we expect the jury will come back with a verdict of not guilty."
According to TMZ, Clark asked a judge for $5,000 toward a private investigator to determine his innocence, claiming he cannot financially afford one himself.
Associated Press reported at the time of Clark’s arrest that the defendant had attempted to lower his bond to $300,000, saying he couldn’t afford the $1 million bond.
