Studio Ghibli film scores reimagined on new mixtape
'Reimagining Miyazaki' is the first release from Andrei Eremin's new Ghosting project
Film scores from the iconic work of Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki have been reshaped into an instrumental hip hop-inspired mixtape by Melbourne producer Ghosting.
'Reimagining Miyazaki' is the first project from Andrei Eremin under the new moniker, having worked on Hiatus Kaiyote's Grammy-nominated second album 'Choose Your Weapon' and Chet Faker's debut EP 'Thinking In Textures,' in the past.
'One Summer「 Spirited Away 」' is the first to be taken from the 11-track mixtape, with Eremin photographing the coastal mining town of Jiufen, Taiwan, famous for being the inspiration behind the 2001 film, for the artwork.
Pieces from 'Princess Mononoke', 'My Neighbour Totoro' and 'Porco Rosso' also feature on the release, which is out May 12 on Wondercore Island. Check out 'One Summer「 Spirited Away 」' below.
