Street Player is the dance music channel training young people to make films
The youth-driven platform will also showcase burgeoning dance talents
Livity, the creative network behind urban music zine Live Mag and the cult 'grime soap' Dubplate Drama on Channel 4, has announced a new project called Street Player aimed at promoting young talent in the spheres of dance, music and film.
Street Player is a dance music channel that hosts simple but artfully directed videos for tracks and remixes that would otherwise have no visual accompaniment beyond the usual artwork still or unrelated photo of a beach, improving the experience of YouTube streams across the board for fans, producers and labels.
Former Dazed Editor Callum McGeoch is leading the project, which will provide diverse groups of young people with paid training and experience in video production, editing and social media skills at offices in Brixton and South Africa, and through links with film and dance schools worldwide.
