Netflix has now confirmed that season 4 of Stranger Things will return with two volumes.
Yesterday saw the reveal of a billboard reading “Every ending has a beginning” upside-down and today the news has been confirmed that the penultimate season will be out in spring.
Four locations have been revealed via their social media including Russia, The Lab, Creel House and California.
As well as these hints a letter has also been published from brothers and producers of Stranger Things Matt and Ross Duffer to the show’s “nerds”.
It states: “With nine scripts, over eight hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one.”
It added: “So that's the good news. It's coming soon. And it's bigger than ever. It's also the beginning of the end. Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons.
"It proved too large to tell in four, but – as you’ll see for yourselves – we are now hurtling towards our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.”

Last summer, executive producer of the show, Shawn Levy also told The Hollywood Reporter that that Stranger Things 4 was the "most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we've ever done".
"By not just a little – by a lot," he said. "So the complexity of season four, even before we had the obstacles, hurdles and challenges of a pandemic, is taking a lot of time because it is super worth the wait."
Volume 1 is arriving to Netflix on May 27 with Volume 2 coming July 1.
