EDM superstar Steve Aoki is being sued by a fan after his infamous stage diving antics left her with a broken neck and almost paralysed her in 2012.

Midwest-native Brittany Hickman was at one of Aoki's shows at the Hard Rock Café in San Diego when the DJ jumped from the top of the stage onto a pool raft. Hickman, who was underneath the raft at the time, was knocked unconscious and later found out that she had broken her neck.

The resulting injury led to spending several days in hospital and missing two months of work, and she has finally managed to bring the case to court.

In speaking to ABC10 news, Hickman said: "If I had thrown my arms above my head, reached for something that was too high or picked up something that was too heavy [the doctors] said I could have paralysed myself."

Aoki's lawyers and the Hard Rock Café both declined to comment on the incident.
