Steve Angello says he wants more from the dance music scene despite it being "bigger than ever".

With new album 'Wild Youth' forthcoming, the former Swedish House Mafia man spoke to Billboard and revealed his disappointment at what's going on at the moment.

Citing the amount of money involved as a reason for the "safe" attitude, he said: "We're not telling stories in dance music, we're using the same sounds over and over again because they're easy to make and they keep the focus of the fans."

He also said dance music's "less impressive" than it has been before and, after watching streams of Ultra Music Festival, wants to see more.

"I expect more. Granted, I'm a very harsh critic of myself and of others, but I do expect more. I want to be blown away. I want to be sitting there with my eyes wide open, saying, "Whoa, what is this record, what's he playing? I've never heard this before," and so on. It's not happening."

No longer on a major label, 'Wild Youth' will be coming out on his own, Size Records, and he's said it's "not EDM" and won't be focused towards getting radio play.
