Spotify playlist: 50 overlooked classics from the glory days of rave

Another dip down the rabbit hole of dance music’s vast history and Mixmag has come out the other side with a batch of timeless classics that should not be overlooked.

This recent update of our ever evolving Overlooked Classics playlist on Spotify touches on a variety of styles, from the ethereal essence of Radio Slave remixing Trentemøller to the deep acid riffs of Dan Curtin and the hypnotic minimal madness of Cabanne. These undoubtedly gripping dancefloor bombs still have serious power on the dancefloor.

Also featured in the recent update is a special and timely inclusion. With today being the anniversary of the tragic assassination of Martin Luther King Jr, listeners will find a unique track paying homage to the revolutionary figure. Back in 1991 Richie Hawtin (pictured above) was tapped to remix Kenny Larkin’s track ‘We Shall Overcome’, which transformed the track into a glitchy tech house banger highlighting vocals of MLK. Never forget!

This collection joins other timeless tracks previously added, including material by Paul Woolford, Luke Slater, Anja Schneider, Cab Drivers and Booka Shade, among others.

Follow the playlist on Spotify to stay connected and be sure to check back for weekly updates.
