Spotify launches new program RISE to promote emerging artists
RISE will spotlight a total of 16 artists per year
In an effort to “identify and break the next wave of music superstars,” Spotify has launched a new program titled RISE.
The new initiative was launched on October 20 and plans to highlight four artists every couple of months with a mixed-media playlist, amounting to a total of 16 artists per year.
The first artists that have been selected for the RISE program are pop and rock artists Lauv and Kim Petras, hip-hop artist Trippie Redd and country singer Russell Dickerson. On top of curating video content that will tell the story of each artist’s rise to fame, Spotify will be creating “one-of-a-kind experiential events” for each member of the RISE roster.
Despite offering up a great deal of resources to support these emerging talents, Spotify will keep clear of the artist’s copyrights not be taking any cuts from the income they receive from touring and merchandise. RISE will be available in the US, Canada and the UK.
