Soul and R&B singer Joyce Sims has died aged 63
The hitmaker was most widely known for her tune ‘Come Into My Life’
Joyce Sims has died aged 63.
The news of her death was confirmed on Facebook by her family, as reported by The Guardian, with one of her siblings Debbie Sims Hall describing the singer as “a beautiful soul inside and out” who “will truly be missed”.
Most widely known for her US and UK Top 10 track ‘Come Into My Life’, the soul and R&B singer charted too firstly with 1986’s ‘All and All’, followed by “Lifetime Love”, “Looking for a Love” and “Walk Away” also gaining chart success in the years thereafter.
Following the slew of successful records, she continued to perform both R&B and soul, especially over in Europe; Sims played a notable evening at The Haçienda in June as recalled by DJ and writer Dave Haslam earlier this year, who referred to ‘All In All’ as “one of the greatest singles of the mid-1980s”.
Over her career, she was sampled by musical greats such as jazz vocalist Randy Crawford, R&B singer Angie Stone and rapper Snoop Dogg. Only in August this year did Sims perform in London and release a cover of Bobby Caldwell’s ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’ via SoulTracks .
Since the announcement of her death, tributes have been pouring in on social media:

Joyce Sims soundtracked our heady days as fashion students at art college in Berkshire. All in all & come into my life were absolute classics. Many a night spent listening to the vinyl we'd bought at a tiny shop in Maidenhead. Some great memories thrown up with the sad news. https://t.co/u9wsjFMAjY
