This past weekend marked the launch of Brooklyn's Variance Festival.

The all-day outdoors event boasted a strong community vibe, featuring artist installations and gourmet food vendors straight from the neighborhood. Musical performers were surrounded by a huge variety of local businesses and booths, including a pop-up record shop hosted by Mixmag with Independent Grand.

Headlined by house legend Roy Davis Jr., Variance's music curation included a refreshing combination of disco, electronic, indie and international artists. Despite the blazing sun and dangerously high temperatures, the crowd stayed in motion throughout the event's entirety and joined in a massive communal, tribal dance session amidst a heavy 20-minute downpour of rain.

Festivities continued into the night with the festival's afterparty, held at Bushwick's extravagant new venue, House Of Yes.

Variance At Night welcomed Occupy The Disco, Luka Tacon, AKKI and once again Roy Davis Jr. with a special Mixmag curated front room. Vibes were at an all time high, musical performances were beyond stellar and things got so rowdy the venue had to post a 'No Blowjobs On The Dance Floor' sign the next day.

You can assume it was one for the books.
