What a year it's been for Skepta. After the success of last year's 'That's Not Me', the Tottenham MC's carried the momentum through 2015 with 'Shutdown', sharing a stage with Kanye West and taking grime to thousands of new fans in the United States.

Perfect, then, that he's receiving the AIM Outstanding Contribution to Music Award next month at The Brewery in Clerkenwell, London.

Based on "one of the independent sector's finest artists; someone with an incredible body of work who continues to shape their genre and be a source of inspiration to new artists", Mistajam, an AIM judge, believes the award's fitting for Skepta.

"Since Grime was born out of the ashes of UK Garage, Skepta has been a pioneer of the sound, of the DIY business model and the culture. DJ, Producer, Writer, MC, record label boss and performer - there's no denying Skepta has put in the blood sweat and tears for the last 10 whole years and now, as he stands on the cusp of true international acclaim, it feels right to award Skepta for his immense contribution so far to British music."

We feature on the panel of judges voting, as does FACT, The Quietus, Radio 1, 1Xtra and more. Skepta joins Björk and Richie Hawtin as winners of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, while JME, FKA Twigs and Flying Lotus are among the nominees for other awards.
