He might have been snubbed by the Brits despite a landmark year, but Skepta's been shown recognition by the Ivor Novello awards.

With his new album 'Konnichiwa' coming out on May 6, his tune 'Shutdown', penned alongside Ragz Original, from the record is up for best contemporary song.

Roots Manuva and Snakehips, Chance the Rapper and Tinashe make up the category with their respective tracks 'Cargo' and 'All My Friends'.

Paul Gambaccini, longtime presenter of the Ivors, said: “I think it’s important for that community to know they are being listened to. It’s important that all genres are represented, and that artists know their work is taken seriously, no matter what type of music they write.

"I’m certain someone like Skepta will take the Ivors more seriously because they know it’s about quality."

Jamie xx's 'In Colour' is also nominated for best album.
