Shygirl drops second single of 2021, ‘Cleo’
The seductive, shimmery track follows June’s ‘BDE’ featuring Slowthai
Shygirl has just released her second track of the year, this time a solo effort coming alongside a brand new music video.
‘Cleo’, the latest track from the South London artist, features a 45-second orchestral intro before the singer opens with the lyrics: “You’ve got me feeling like a movie star, all eyes on me”.
Quickly changing tune, ‘Cleo’ falls into a club track following a breakdown into a 4/4 beat with the artist’s signature hyper-pop style taking lead - seductive lyrics and a glittery video to accompany.

The near four-minute track comes with a gaudy new video from director Trinity Ellis, seeing the singer clad in movie-star style clothes with a cat on her shoulder, a phone to her ear, or a feather boa around her neck.
‘Cleo’ dropped today, just months ahead of her headline tour in the UK and Europe. The tour was postponed amidst COVID regulation changes, originally set to begin earlier this month, now rescheduled for March 2022.
The tour will take the artist from Manchester, Glasgow and London, right through to Amsterdam, Berlin, and more on Shygirl’s biggest tour to date.

Following up her June-released single, ‘BDE’, featuring Northampton rapper Slowthai, ‘Cleo’ acts as a polar release from the charged track, coming softer and more typical to Shygirl’s charming nature.
“Music gives me this playground to re-enact scenarios and see what would have been the eventualities of each one,” Shygirl told Mixmag when she featured on the cover in November last year.
“Even having myself as my own muse is such a narcissistic experience but one that you don’t get in the everyday usually! It’s just nice to really unpick and go through all the parts of myself that I’m living with, basically.”
