To mark the first anniversary of their Mutual Rytm label, German techno duo SHDW & Obscure Shape have shared the second instalment of their 'Federation of Rytm' compilation series.

Shaping up as their imprint's tenth release, it'll reflect the duo's musical direction of "modern old school techno". Guests on the V/A range from well-established to upcoming producers, with names involved including Mark Broom, Annē and Lars Huismann.

Expect shifting soundscapes from early hours to peak-time techno cuts, from percussive-driven, hardgroove tracks to more thumping techno bass drums.

The overall compilation features 22 tracks. 18 of these are spread across three vinyls, branded with Mutual Rytm's trademark artwork, with the remaining four available as digital bonuses.

The vinyl edition is strictly limited to 500 copies, with its release (alongside the digital version) landing on March 3.

"The idea of this massive compilation was that you can play a whole set including buildup with the tracks," SHDW & Obscure Shape tell Mixmag. "The creation of our second "Federation Of Rytm" compilation had already started before the actual label launch, as we have already confirmed the first track for it in September 2021. All tracks were selected very carefully.

"Some will surely recognize a lot of these tracks, as we have played them at our gigs in the last months. We want to set a clear message with this compilation, which is why we also liked to use "The Future Is Now" in our last posts online."
