Iceland’s Secret Solstice continues to push the boundaries of live musical performances as they are set to showcase events at three unique locations, inside a glacier, down a lava tunnel and on a midnight boat cruise.
In years past the festival that takes place in Reykjavík has delivered live concerts inside a glacier as well as a volcano. Now they add a lava tunnel to the mix of jaw-dropping and immersive locations.
The event series dubbed Into The Glacier will take place inside Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjökull, and will consist of three parties. On the first night, June 16, rising Icelandic producer BAYA will set the tone. Then on June 17, Ministry of Sound takes over the glacier with outstanding UK duo Dusky joined by deep and surreal duo Thugfucker. Finally on June 18, the setting gets a taste of funk and soul from Anderson .Paak with Blaz Roca.
Also taking place outside the festival are The Lava Tunnel events located inside Raufarholshellir, a 5,000 year old lava tunnel outside Reykjavík. Iceland’s homegrown talent will share their sounds at these events, with Helgi Björnsson and Ása on June 17 followed by Högni and Snorri Helga on June 18.
If that’s not enough, Maxxi Soundsystem will perform on the Midnight Sun Boat Party, Friday June 16.
