Music venues will be able to host 100 people, rising to 400 by the end of June

Scotland's music venues and festivals can reopen from May 17.

Music venues will be able to host crowds of 100 people, with social distancing.

Festivals will be able to host 500 people.

Cinemas, theatres and comedy clubs will also be opening under the 100-capacity guidelines.

Scotland's roadmap out of lockdown plans to allow 200 people for indoor venues and 1000 for outdoor by early June, rising to 400 and 2000 by the end of June respectively.

NME reports that the later could be negotiated to go higher.

The official guidance states:

“From 17 May some outdoor and indoor events will be able to take place (all conditional on supportive data).

“In addition, there will be further work to develop a process and guidance for events with proposed numbers above the standard limits.

“Specific restrictions on capacities are to be discussed and agreed in the coming weeks in consultation with the events industry.”

Large scale outdoor events and indoor venues in England are due to resume from June 21 and a 5000-capacity festival is about to be trialled.
