Sankeys to return to Manchester with new 500-capacity nightclub
The new venue will launch in 2026, nine years after the original Ancoats nightclub closed its doors
Sankeys is set to make its return to Manchester with a new 500-capacity nightclub, nine years on from the closure of the long-running Ancoats venue.
The new space, set to be located in Manchester city centre, will open with two events across Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31.
A press release shares that the new venue will operate with a "no VIP, no phones on the dancefloor" policy, while bringing back its iconic LED "matrix grid" installation for a "basement-style feel".

Following the launch of the new Sankeys, the venue will open "only on Saturdays" as part of a new event series, Sankeys Saturdays. Sankeys beloved Tribal Sessions parties will also be making a comeback as part of a monthly residency.
“What we’re creating is a basement-style underground club with a chill out room," says Sankeys' Creative Director, David Vincent. "We will only be open one night a week on Saturday. There will be no VIP or phones allowed on the dancefloor — everyone is a VIP. People need to stop taking pictures and start dancing to the beat.”
The team behind the nightclub first teased a return to Manchester in June, with a cryptic Instagram post that read: "Hello Manchester... It's been a while."
From 1994 until its closure in 2017, Sankeys operated from the disused Soap Factory Beehive Mill in Ancoats, Manchester. Since then, Sankeys has remained active as a promoter, most recently hosting a party at London's Studio338.

According to a press release, programming at the new Sankeys will feature "emerging underground house, tech house and techno artists, alongside a selection of classic Sankeys names."
