San Francisco welcomes an all-female music festival
Girl power on the imminent rise
There's no question that gender inequality is one of the most relevant issues in the dance music scene.
Anna Lunoe recently became the first solo female artist to play an EDC main stage at the festival series, which has been running for 20 years. Although numbers seem to be increasing, today, women only make up an average of 10.8 per cent of major music festival bookings.
San Francisco's Armory club has just announced it will be hosting an all-female festival on this October 8 called Together Festival.
Run by California's Ms. Jackson, Together Festival will be headlined by Dani Deahl and also feature Uniiqu3 (pictured), Little Boots, Brazzabelle and more. The day-long event plans to showcase technology and art in addition to its musical programming.
The 4,000 person venue - which also happens to be a former pornography studio - will host two main stages plus a silent disco.
