Producer and DJ Sally C has released her latest EP, ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers 002’.

This is the second release on her label, also entitled ‘Big Saldo’s Chunkers’, and consists of three tunes which continues her trademark sound.

“The true source of joy during the last two years of uncertainty came through music,” explains Sally. “My job disappeared so quickly and it took a long time to process the emotions attached to this. Suddenly there was a huge void and my identity had disintegrated.”

“After a spell of natural demotivation, I was able to enjoy making music again and found a huge sense of comfort from it. The return to the dance floors seemed like such a far-fetched concept for so long. This record was written with the idea of returning to the place we all connect. I pictured playing these tracks and had a clear vision that it would be real one day.”

On the A-Side, ‘Give It To Me’ is a mixture of emotion and euphoria, providing seven minutes of saxophone mixed with percussion. “[It] is a pure live jam,” adds Sally. “I sat down one day and just rolled through, it made me feel so good and I was overjoyed with gaining motivation and creative expression again. It's a little lighter than the B side, a soft and euphoric return to the Chunkers.”

The B-Side consists of ‘Downtown’ and ‘Nasty’ - both tunes including rolling drums, heavy basslines and warehouse vocals, encapsulating what Sally refers to as the “true chunker form”.

“The concept of simplicity has been carried through from Big Saldo’s Chunkers 001. The new cuts are functional and made for the dance-floor,” she explains. “My main goal when producing is to make tracks for my sets and this is how the Chunkers label was born. Honing in on this sound has given me huge confidence as a DJ and a producer and I can’t wait to share more.”

Sally has close ties to Kyiv’s ∄ crew, and will be donating a percentage of profits from the EP to the ∄ club community fund and Berlin-based Bridges Over Berlin, who support LGBTQIA+, BiPOC and other marginalised individuals fleeing Ukraine.
