Rockstar Games tease GTA 6 details including price and release date

Rockstar Games has revealed a few prospective details around the release of GTA VI, the next game in the company’s long-running Grand Theft Auto series.

Details including the price and release date have been teased by publishers, who confirm that the next edition of GTA could come at an eye-watering cost.

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two - which owns GTA publisher Rockstar Games - told Forbes in a 2023 interview that future games could be priced at a “per hour” value.

“Our prices are still very, very low, because we offer many hours of engagement, the value of the engagement is very high,” he said. “So I think the industry as a whole offers a terrific price-to-value opportunity for consumers."

Currently, the average major release AAA game retails for around £60 to £70, which Forbes explains could be the sort of price point GTA VI fans will be looking at upon release.

GTA VI is currently lined up for an Autumn 2025 release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, according to publishers, while PC release will likely land later in 2026.

While publishers have released few details until this point, fans have leaked information about the next GTA online including the potential game map - an open world “bigger than ever” in GTA history.

In an “in-depth analysis” by one Reddit user who cross-referenced the game’s trailer with other leaked information, he confirmed that GTA VI could feature a “very diverse” map including over 100 locations.

The next game is set back in Vice City - one of the three locations featured in the first GTA game in 1997, and later GTA Vice City in 2002 - a “neon-soaked” fictional version of Miami, said to be a story of “love and crime” between the main character, Lucia, who is the first playable female protagonist in an open world GTA game, and another character.

The first trailer, released in December after it was leaked online, shows snippets of social media footage in-game, including live streams capturing fast cars, beaches, strip clubs, alligators, police raids, boat parties, and another in-game nightclub.
