"Extreme" weather alert issued as severe flooding hits Ibiza
Footage posted across social media shows widespread damage across the island, including club hotspots in Ibiza Town
Ibiza uthorities have issued an "extreme" weather alert as the island is hit with severe flooding and torrential rain from Storm Gabrielle.
In a Civil Protection Alert sent to mobile devices across the island today (September 30), people on the island have been warned to "avoid travelling and outdoor activities" and to stay clear of "low-lying areas and basements."
According to Spain's meteorogial agency AEMET, there has been over 180mm of rain on the island across the last 12 hours, with further rain expected until around 4:PM CEST.
Footage posted across social media appears to show extensive damage and flooding across the island, including at Ibiza Airport and around clubbing hotspots in Ibiza Port and Playa d'en Bossa.

Another clip posted on Instagram appears to show a collapsed ceiling in the Pacha hotel lobby, which sits just metres away from the superclub in Talamanca.
The E-10 road connecting Ibiza Airport to the rest of the island has been closed since last night, with extreme flooding visible on social media footage.
AENA, which manages Spain's air traffic, diverted several flights away from the island in the early hours of the morning, though it claims passengers are currently able to navigate the airport as normal.
According to The Mirror, firefighters are currently battling to rescue people from their vehicles, lifts and homes across the island, with Sergeant José Antonio López of the Ibiza Council Fire Service telling IB3 Televisión that it has had to rescue 15 people so far and attend to over 50 incidents.
