Doubters of Ibiza BBC Proms special are "snobs"
Suzy Klein defends the Late Night with... Radio 1 showcase which Pete Tong will present
BBC Radio 3 presenter Suzy Klein has got our backing.
There's been moans and groans about Pete Tong (pictured) and Radio 1 curating a "musical homage to Ibiza" for this year's BBC Proms on July 29, but Klein's had a dig at the doubters.
"What a load of old cobblers. These self-elected snobs and scaremongers are not there to fight for the universal power that great music unleashes; what they want is to 'protect' classical music, and high culture at large, from the onslaught of mass entertainment."
She's presented the Proms before, as well as shows at the Royal Opera, but says she loves "dancing to an addictive club anthem" and "pin-sharp rhymes and rhythm of great rap" as much as listening to composers like Brahm and Mozart.
BBC 1Xtra are also getting involved with the Proms, with a hip hop and grime symphony featuring Skepta, Wretch 32, Stormzy, Krept & Konan and more taking place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on August 12.
