The State Government wants to impose a 1am lockout on all bars and clubs

The Queensland State Government is pushing ahead with plans to impose stricter lockout laws on bars and clubs than those currently in place in Sydney.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk wants to introduce a 1am lockout and 3am cessation of service at venues across the Australian state, with drinks high in alcohol such as shots banned after midnight.

Queenslanders currently have to abide by a 3am lockout, while Sydney clubbers cannot enter a new venue within a designated 'CBD entertainment precinct' after 1.30am.

Speaking on Nine News, Palaszczuk said the Labor State Government would be looking to implement the new laws later this year after a period of community consultation. However, Our Nightlife Queensland claims venue operators have been left out of that process.

Sydney's lockout laws have been widely criticised by DJs and the clubbing community since their introduction last year, with Sydney DJ Tommy Trash recently expressing his distaste on Twitter.

The new laws are tipped to be introduced to parliament in September.
