Premiere: Nicole Moudaber channels Sasha’s mysticism into pumping techno
The results are spectacular
You don’t stay relevant in music for the time that Sasha has without prodigious talent and the ability to adapt. Starting out in the progressive house heyday, Sasha has masterfully traversed a course through styles ranging across techno, breaks, experimental and ambient in his lengthy career.
Earlier this year he underlined his continued position as one of dance music’s greats, turning in the dazzling ‘Scene Delete’ mix CD for Late Night Tales, which took listeners on a journey through vast, atmospheric soundscapes, grounding them in emotional resonance, reflected in the warmth of ‘Warewolf’.
His next release is a two-track EP titled ‘Rivaldo’, and is due via his Last Night On Earth imprint, through which he’s been building up an impressive discography featuring artists such as Kate Simko and La Fleur since its debut in 2011.
The release comes armed with a remix of the title-track from Nicole Moudaber. She cuts an iconic figure in the booth at her DJ gigs, notable for her untamed black hair. It’s an aesthetic that she matches with her music, which is dark, thick and propulsive. Pick out any record from her discography and it’s guaranteed to get a dancefloor bouncing.
Naturally, the results of these two artists in collaboration are spectacular. Nicole takes the mystical groove of Sasha’s 'Rivaldo' and underpins it with a hand-raising techno foundation. Check it out below.
'Rivaldo' will be released by Last Night On Earth on November 18
