Premiere: Halogenix's 'Blej' is a sharp-toothed drum 'n' bass driller
The Critical favourite is back with the 'Velvet' EP
Last time we featured Halogenix on Mixmag, the London producer was about to release his 'All Blue' EP on Metalheadz in 2015. We premiered 'Beyond The Bounds', a glistening drum 'n' bass roll out made to soothe the mind.
His relationship with 'headz continued later that year as he was enlisted by label head Goldie to remix 'Broken Man'. The result is charming, with synths growling alongside the heartfelt vocals.
Critical is a label he's close to - both through his solo work and Ivy Lab - and he returns on June 30 with the 'Velvet' EP.
On 'Blej', Halogenix is in searing form as he heads down a tech-y direction. The synths make you feel like your head's fizzing and just when you think they're settling down, they reappear to throw you into an electrifying d'n'b abyss.
