Portable (Shackleton Remix)
Time for an incredible journey
South African born Alan Abrahams is better known as Portable and the artist has been steadily carving a name for himself over the last 15 years.
His productions and live setup have been praised across the board and releases on labels like Live At The Robert Johnson, Perlon and Süd Electronic have established him as one of the leading names in South African electronic music.
His latest release, 'Alan Abrahams' (named after himself) is an album on !K7 and has been described as a "a natural progression from dance music into something akin to a mutated musical style that incorporates stuff I listen to all the time such as classical, African and new jazz.” by the man himself.
To celebrate its release, other-worldly producer Shackleton has remixed one of the tracks from the LP and his re-imagining of 'The Frozen Lake' is nothing short of incredible.
It's a sparce, spaced-out edit that incorporates deep, ethereal synths, emotive chords and vocals that are both soft and haunting. The percussion works perfectly in sync with the rest of the track, creating a soft, rotating groove that pushes the cut forward.
Beautiful, really, really beautiful.
'Alan Abrahams' will be released via !K7 on August 19, grab it here
