Police charge two people after Halloween rave trouble in London

Ravers clashed with police when they tried to shut down an illegal party

Two people have been charged for their involvement in the trouble that kicked off during an illegal Halloween rave in South London.

Lesley Wheeler, 28, and Tony Amato, 42, are due to attend Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court later this month under the respective charges of assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

This comes after ravers and police came to blows in Lambeth as the latter tried to shut down Scumoween: A Nightmare On Scum Street at an abandoned building.

We reported yesterday that eight people had been arrested, with 14 police officers injured after apparently being attacked with propane tanks, chairs, a suspected petrol bomb and more when they arrived to close the party down early.

A load of laughing gas canisters were also found at the venue, despite Lambeth Council recently introducing a penalty of up to £1,000 for anyone selling it.

Images of those the police are looking for have been shared with the public, while Scum Tek, the promoter, wasn't too pleased with the people involved in the fighting.

It's a shame it went down like this on Saturday, especially after the fuzz had let two unlicensed parties in London and Northampton go ahead in the last two weeks.
