Danny Tenaglia has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer.

The pioneering house DJ explained in a video message uploaded to his Facebook page this weekend, that he was diagnosed with the disease following a routine colonoscopy in May.

He reveals that his diagnosis is the reason for his recent cancellation of gigs adding, “It was really hard to cancel”.

After examinations, he was immediately put on six-weeks of radiation therapy, five days a week meaning he could not travel.

As of when the video was published, he has had four out of the six weeks of therapy. “The good news is that I feel great,” Tenaglia explains adding: “I really believe that we caught this in time”.

On August 12, he is set to play at Brooklyn’s Knockdown Center with Cevin Fisher to celebrate their recent track, ‘Move That Body’. Get tickets here.

His statements reveal: “I am taking on events in the future but with the understanding that I might have to cancel.”

“I really appreciate everybody’s support and love and prayers. It's not an easy thing to talk about but it was time because I’ve been honest with everybody that we had to cancel with. I didn't want to make up so excuse so the word is getting out there” he says.

His post adds: "I PRAY this will help people realise how important it is to get a colonoscopy after 50 and then every five years. Prevention is everything."

Also in this video announcement, Tenaglia mentions that due to being “out of work” he will be selling his studio equipment on a Facebook page soon.

Tenaglia says: “This is stuff I haven’t used in so many years which I figured there are some people out there who are going to appreciate it more than I am right now.”

His statement concludes with him saying: “I’m strong, I’m fighting this.”

After support from fans and fellow DJs such as Honey Dijon, David Guetta, Louie Vega and many more in the comments, he has posted a follow-up video in which he says: "God bless and thank you all again for the very touching words, thoughts and prayers!"
