Pioneer Ditch CD Function On New XDJ-1000 Deck
Pioneer have unveiled a new deck that doesn't have a CD-drive
In what seems like a true sign of the times, Pioneer have unveiled their new all-digital media player, the XDJ-1000.
Priced at $999, the new deck will do away with the CD function in favour of a USB drive, allowing the user to link it up with their USB storage device, Rekordbox and mixing software such as Serato.
The XDJ-1000 has a similar interface as the CDJ 2000-Nexus but instead of a knob to use the menu and to select tracks, it is touch-screen and will showcase a series of effects and looping tools.
You can check out the launch video below which describes the deck as "the first in a new line-up of digitally focused, USB-only, rekordbox-ready players."
Prices: £829/ $999/ €999
