Pioneer DJ is releasing a new controller to go with the updated version of rekordbox.

The DDJ-XP1 is a pad-orientated controller built to supplement turntables or CDJs with hot cue, track selection, looping and sampling functions and a touch-sensitive FX strip on each channel.

It’s designed with the hybrid set in mind, opening up creative possibilities to DJ performances, by controlling all the features in rekordbox dj.

Pioneer DJ also revealed the free rekordbox 5.0 update that aims for a "more stable, responsive performance". This includes improved beat grid analysis and the ability to load tracks from an SD or USB to any computer.

The DDJ-XP1 will be available in September and is expected to retail for £229.
