Overmono drop brand new track, ‘Gfortune’
The duo wanted to create a track that “sounds like it's gonna fall apart at any minute”
Overmono are back with a brand new track ready to line their forthcoming EP set for release next month, ‘Gfortune’.
The second track unveiled from their upcoming 5-track release, ‘Cash Romantic’, uses out-of-sync, pitched-up vocals paired with the duo’s usual synth and drum patterns to create a less structured, nearly unrecognisable track.
“The idea for ‘Gfortune’ was to make something that sounds like it’s gonna fall apart any minute,” the pair revealed on Instagram when the track dropped on Tuesday, March 29.

“Like it’s broken but in a beautiful way, kinda like ‘Bad Boy’ by Frankie Knuckles and Jamie Principle. To our ears, a lot of those old Chicago tunes have that feel to them, there’s a vibe to those records that’s stone cold and something we always go back to.”
The new track comes just a couple of weeks after the duo revealed their next EP alongside the club-focused track, ‘Gunk’. The EP comes from the inspiration of discovering a trove of old mixtapes the brothers recorded as children.
“After listening to some of these old tapes, we wrote this record and realised our heads are still pretty much in the same space as when we were kids,” they said.

“It’s mad the amount of time we spend in the studio completely obsessed with getting records to sound how we want when sometimes all you need is a little sound system and a lovely crowd to know that this version’s the one,” they said on the previously released track ‘Gunk’, which the duo first played at Joy Orbison’s new night.
‘Cash Romantic’ is out on April 8 via XL Recordings. Find the tracklist below, and listen to Overmono’s brand new track, ‘Gfortune’.
