Otik announces bass-driven EP 'Miracles' marking a "change in direction" in his artistry
"Recently I’ve been challenging myself to repackage my sound into something a little more accessible and less experimental that still pulls at the heart strings and evokes emotion"
Otik has announced his return to Steel City Dance Discs, revealing forthcoming EP 'Miracles' set for release on November 29.
The release follows his debut on the imprint back in July, with the London-based producer now turning to weighty bass, hefty kicks and a hearty contribution of atmospheric sonic elements.
Whilst 'Nebula' on the flip warps strings and synths to deliberately take up space, 'Wild Blue Yonder' embraces contrast by navigating pummelling lows with soaring vocals, a sentiment also embodied in the eponymous EP opener. 'Lost Mary' is also of particular note, combining euphoric vocals once more with a cutting breakbeat.

It's a further addition to the musician's adjustment in sonic identity, embracing a recent discovery for more four-by-four sounds:
“For the past few years I’ve grown into a deeper love for house, techno and four to the floor rhythms," Otik tells Mixmag. "Recently I’ve been challenging myself to repackage my sound into something a little more accessible and less experimental that still pulls at the heart strings and evokes emotion.
"‘Miracles’ is the result of this change in direction and I’m really happy with how the record turned out.”
