Keen for that!

Omar-S is a Detroit legend and something of a mythological figure in dance music. He’s always self-released his own music via his label FXHE and rarely gives interviews, but after a triumphant set at this year’s Dekmantel, he couldn’t hide the love for his hometown.

In a video posted to Dekmantel’s Facebook he urged everyone to come to Detroit because “you can do what the fuck you want to do”.

“I’m in Detroit so you can do what you want to do in Detroit. Detroit is lawless,” he said.

“There’s no crime, the rent is cheap, the mayor don’t give a fuck, the Detroit police department don’t give a fuck. You can do what you want to do. You can buy property, you can commit a crime! Ain’t nobody gonna fuck with you! I will never move from Detroit.”

On a musical tip, he explained why playing sets over four hours is a waste of time and that he always remembers what he plays and who he plays to.
