Following a string of delays, London’s Night Tube is finally set to begin operation on August 19. Now there’s more good news for residents of the English capital, with the service due to expand weeks after launch.

The Central and Victoria routes are the first to start running all night, and now it has been reported that the Jubilee Line will follow on September 2.

Train drivers’ union Aslef’s district organiser Finn Brennan said: “We welcome the hundreds of new jobs with decent conditions that were created by our action last year.

“We made sure it was brought in by agreement in a way that benefits existing staff and the new recruits.”

A spokesman for TfL shared information on extending the service to further lines still, saying: “The start of night Tube services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines will follow in separate phases later in the autumn as new Tube drivers complete their training and final preparations are made.

“Around 200 part-time drivers are currently taking part in a 14-week training programme to make the night Tube a reality for London.”
