New York nightclub Green Room to launch with strict no-phones policy

A new 300-capacity nightclub is officially set to open in New York this week with a strict no-phones policy.

Located in East Williamsburg, Green Room is the brainchild of Golden Record NYC founder Nick Spector, who decided to launch a new venue based on the sometimes raucous, sometimes laidback energy of backstage green rooms in nightclubs.

Despite implementing a strict no-phones policy, with lockers available for guests to keep their devices safe while on the dancefloor, the new venue will promote its events exclusively via SMS with its Green Room Hotline.

Programming will centre around "soulful house, queer-led nights and European minimal," the team behind Green Room shared, with upcoming bookings including BASHKKAAsh LaurynByron The Aquarius, LYDO, and Pearson Sound.

The venue is kitted out with a D&B Audiotechnik soundsystem and a "floating dancefloor", which its team claims delivers a balanced sound at safe volumes with dancers able to unwind in its exterior courtyard during parties, which will typically run from 9:PM until 4:AM.
