New York club Rash set ablaze in suspected arson attack

Rash nightclub in Brooklyn, New York was set ablaze in a suspected arson attack on April 3.

Staff and bystanders told RA that a "tall white man" wearing a black hoodie and a backpack, covered the floor in a clear liquid at around 9:20 PM local time. When asked what he was doing, he replied, "pouring some water out."

The man then used a lighter which set off an explosion with him racing out the building followed by a crowd of people.

A bartender and DJ who were towards the back of the club were forced to run through the fire to leave the venue and both sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospital. They are in a stable condition.

Twitter user @petesassafrasss who walked past the scene tweeted: "It’s unclear how this person got in, as the bouncer said he didn’t get by him at the front door as he would have noticed him with a red gas can"

At 10:20 PM, firefighters arrived and managed to control the fire.

The venue located at 941 Willoughby - an area which already contains an array of other iconic Brooklyn venues such as Bossa Nova Civic Club which was also “significantly damaged” after a fire broke out in January this year.

Rash opened in 2021 with an opening event that featured the likes of Shyboi, Ren G and Yay Spray.

Rash have launched a GoFundMe with a goal of $200,000 in order to support their staff, cover medical bills and to be used in repairing the venue.
