DJ DIE SOON releases ‘My Brothel The Wind’ LP

DJ DIE SOON has released a new album ‘My Brothel The Wind’ via Jordan-based label Drowned By Locals.

Influences on the abrasive record come from Sun Ra, collaborators such as Rully Shabara, Sara Persico, Kiki Hitomi and visual artist Hiroo Tanaka, and the deafening metropolis of his hometown Toyko.

“The buildings were really tall, so the sounds reflected so much and it was so loud that you couldn’t even have a conversation on the phone. Hearing this noise every minute when living in this flat, it became a normal thing,” he recalls.

Niamh drops debut release, ‘The Golden Ratio’

North East-hailing, Manchester-based DJ and producer Niamh is releasing her first track on July 25, ‘The Golden Ratio’.

The Reprezent Radio resident - who, full disclosure, previously held a role as Mixmag’s Weekend editor - explores resonant techno across the five-minute cut, which features a melody of echoing church bells among its hypnotic textures.

“There’s a lil piece of me left in this track. It’s exactly what I’d wanna hear at the end of the night and hug my mates to,” Niamh says. ‘The track embodies what to expect from the Niamh sound. It pays homage to my years of classical training (specifically violin) through the inclusion of the processed strings for the lead melody, contrasted with a no-holds-barred, ‘hello I’m here’ in your face approach with the bass heavy kicks. It balances dark intensity with glittering femininity. Kinda like me.”

Daniel Avery to release new album ‘Tremor’ via Domino

Daniel Avery has announced his next album ‘Tremor’ will land via Domino on October 31.

The 13-track LP spans sounds such astechno, shoegaze, ambient and industrial, with guest features from Alison Mosshart, Walter Schreifels, bdrmm, Julie Dawson, yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yuné pinku and Cecile Believe adding to the diversity of the record.

The atmospheric lead single ‘Rapture In Blue w/ Cecile Believe’ is out now, also featuring guitars from current Oasis member Andy Bell.

“This is a living and breathing collective,” says Dabiel Avery. “Since the earliest recordings, ‘Tremor’ felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists” he reflects. “It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise... They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome.”

Basement Jaxx surprise release new Latin house track ‘Bambina’

Basement Jaxx have released a new track ‘Bambina’, which has been getting dropped at their live shows of late. It features Tambora artist Latin Grammy nominee Martina Camargo.

“The idea for ‘Bambina’ first came while hearing a couple of Mexican guys busking - playing guitars on the NYC subway—with my baby daughter. The raw spirit and life in their music filled my heart.
