New Japanese-inspired listening bar to open in Liverpool

A new listening bar inspired by Japanese kissaten bars is opening in Liverpool.

Located in the basement of cocktail bar L'Aperitivo on Bold Street, close to the Bombed Cut Church, Suono promises to offer visitors "a trip down memory lane" and the opportunity to "groove deep into the night".

Taking inspiration from Tokyo's intimate hi-fi listening bars, the new space has been designed by North West-based architecture firm R2A with a focus on acoustic tuning — the team behind Suono claim this will allow visitors to "experience music how it was supposed to sound."

Suono's menu will include Japanese whiskies and yuzu cocktails to complement the "minimalism meets analogue warmth" atmosphere in the bar.

The new venue is the brainchild of L'Aperitvo owner Mike Girling, who shared plans to combine the venues to create a "curated journey from early evening to early morning, redefining nightlife in Liverpool".
