A new artist-run, DIY-style venue called EXIT is opening in Glasgow city centre.

The 400-capacity venue will host two fundraising opening parties this weekend across September 8 and 9, with performances from 8:PM to 10:PM followed by DJs through to 3:AM.

A crowdfunding campaign has also been launched to help the venue purchase necessary equipment and “to encourage a membership model of participation in art and music scenes in Glasgow”.

The Kickstarter campaign page says EXIT will “host a diverse programme of electronic music, performance and sound art”, adding: “As this will be an artist-run endeavour, we’d like things to be different from other club and performance spaces we have in Glasgow currently.”

It continues: “EXIT will be as much about people and their expression as it is about the acts, music and physical space. It will be about supporting local artists in need of space as opposed to money-oriented promoters, and also about enriching the scene with a curated programme of international artists who need more attention for their talent. We are also planning to offer the space as a rehearsal and workshop space. EXIT will be a safe space for everyone to be themselves, to create and experiment.”

Artiss set to perform at the opening parties include FEIGUR, HUSS and k.yalo, with DJ sets coming from halal kitty, Joey Desktop, más allá and more.
