New "hard techno" club to open within former church in Belfast

A new nightclub set within a former church is set to open in Belfast city centre. 

Coming from promoter Reckless Raves, THE TEMPLE promises to be "a sanctuary for fans of harder sounds," with parties that go from day-to-night inspired by "European daytime rave culture."

THE TEMPLE is set to open its doors for the first time on September 13 with "The Initiation", a day rave featuring "hard techno, industrial and raw" sounds from 3:PM to 11:PM — with an after-party planned to follow. The line-up for the party will be announced soon. 

Set within the deconsecrated Carlisle Memorial Methodist Church in Carlisle Circus, Belfast, the building is described as one of the city's "most striking", having been first built in 1857.

The church has been used as an event space since the '90s, but was considered an "endangered heritage site" before going through extensive repairs to its roof in 2012 and 2015.

"The goal was never just to throw a party, but the goal the whole time has been to reshape the rave experience here in Belfast and offer something as unique as possible to the ravers of the city," the team behind the club said in a statement.
