New archive featuring more than 500 DJ Randall mixes launched online
The collection spans Metalheadz mixes to Rinse FM sets, compiled across multiple platforms
A new archive featuring more than 500 mixes from the late DJ Randall has been compiled and released online, DJ Mag reports.
The fan-made archive appeared on both Reddit’s jungle and drum ‘n’ bass forums over the weekend from the user Ok-Wishbone-7354, who explained that all 500 mixes are “categorised by event”.
The archive spans some of his earliest sets recorded in the early ‘90s during his residency at AWOL in London, to mixes for Metalheadz, Rinse FM, One Nation, Kiss 100 FM, BBC Radio 1, and more.
“I've manually gone through and kept naming structure as uniform as possible. Where I have them there are dates and years, but there's the odd mix I do not know these for," the archivist explained, adding that there's an added folder for miscellaneous mixes.
The archive also features two sets recorded for Mixmag, one in 1994 during Mixmag’s Live Tour alongside Jumping Jack Frost, and another recorded in 2016 at The Lab LDN - a history of jungle set with tracks spanning from 1992 to 1995.
Mixes in the archive are available to download via Dropbox, Google Drive, Mediafire, and new music search engine cosine.club, which gives users the ability to search for new music based on its similarity to their favourite tracks.
The launch of the fan-made archive came just a week after the death of DJ Randall. The jungle and drum 'n' bass pioneer passed away at the end of July aged 54.
Following his death, tributes flooded in from the likes of DJ Fresh, Paul Woolford, Nia Archives, DJ Zinc, Andy C, and more.
