Netflix lines up release of Stranger Things soundtrack

Stranger Things, currently the most popular show on Netflix, is commendable not only for its gripping plot line, but also for its haunting, synth-laden score.

Composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, two analog synth collectors who also play in the band S U R V I V E, the soundtrack has quickly become one of the most adored aspects of the show. Now Netflix has lined up an official release.

"We discussed having a classic tone and feel to the music for the show but being reserved enough that it wasn't '80s cheese, while offering a refreshing quality so that felt modern," Stein says. "This was one of the qualities that drew them to our music in the first place. Having a familiarity with classic synths worked, but with an overall forward thinking approach."

‘Stranger Things, Vol 1 (A Netflix Original Series Soundtrack)’ consists of 36 tracks and will be released on August 12. Listen to the shows theme song and view the track list below.
