Neptune Discs announces trance-inducing debut vinyl release

Edinburgh-based label Neptune Discs has announced its forthcoming debut vinyl-only release, 'Neptune Discs Vol.9'. Pre-order is available now, with an estimated release date set for June 28.

This release - one dubbed a long time coming by the imprint - sees four artists dive into soundscapes inspired by more progressive genres, with tinges of '90s influenced sounds and trance-like elements brought together with the dancefloor of today in mind.

On opening duties for the V/A, yet far from the warm-up energy, is Cybernet's [pictured] 'Emerald Canopy'. He describes the track as "envisioned for the twilight hours of an open air setting," with the cut "striking its balance as a drivey prog chugger infused with organic melodic grooves and vocal chops intended to put smiles on faces, hands in the air and feet shuffling on the ground."

Elsewhere, on A2, Aiden Francis presents 'Fanks' which operates as a deeper offering for the artist. It meanders between tech house, prog and trance with ease through spaced-out and swirling elements before Glen S takes the reigns for 'Uh!' on B2. It's a peak time hitter, with hefty basslines and immense leads, before a "special drop", in the artist's words, is introduced that "wants to pound you into the ground at 100dB".

To round things off, Tourman introduces 'Donald Ilg'. "It's a composition which embodies the beloved 90's vibe and early 2000's energy and futurism," he explains. "This fast and energetic track consists of dynamic and resonating synths, atmospheric pads, trancey bassline and 90's inspired chord stabs."

"I’ve always focused on visuals, collaborating with amazing artists like theajm, etchsk3tch, and Glen Cutwerk," explains labelhead Astro. "Bringing these visuals to life through physical vinyl is a dream come true. The nostalgia of vinyl perfectly complements the 90s-early 2000s sound of our releases. Partnering with One Eye Witness for distribution has been fantastic. This year, we plan to release 3-4 vinyl records, aiming to press 300 copies of each. Fittingly, our first vinyl features three past artists and a newcomer, perfectly capturing our evolution.

"It's been amazing to have so many artists trust us with their music over the years through numerous digital releases. A big thanks to the people who've been buying on Bandcamp and streaming our music— you’ve made this possible."

'Neptune Discs Vol.9' is available on June 28, although 'Cybernet' is available to check out now digitally. Do so, and pre-order the vinyl, here.
