Nabihah Iqbal in The Lab LDN
Expect stylistically diverse selections that are brimming with energy
The Lab LDN is Mixmag and Coors Light's weekly live stream, powered by Void Acoustics, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our world famous office party.
On Friday, January 22, we’re excited to showcase Nabihah Iqbal.
The artist formerly known as Throwing Shade is currently in the process of writing her second album at Somerset House Studios in London, where she is an artist-in-residence. It will mark the follow-up to her 2017 debut LP ‘Weighing of the Heart’ which came out via Ninja Tune and stood out as one of the year’s best, weaving emotional depth through moving songwriting.
Under her previous moniker, she released on labels such as Ominira and No Pain In Pop, before embracing her birth name for her debut album, citing wanting to represent British-Asian artists making music as a reason.

Alongside her production work, Nabihah dedicates her time to important issues such as human rights and understanding global musical styles and their history. She has a BA degree in History and Ethnomusicology from London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), an MPhil in South African history from the University of Cambridge, and a law conversion degree that led her to working in human rights law.
She performs both live and as a DJ, with her fortnightly NTS show and an incredible recent instalment of Dekmantel’s podcast series showcasing her skill behind the decks in fine fashion. Her broad interests influence her stylistically diverse sets.
Catch the stream from 6pm GMT on Friday, January 20. Tune in over on our Facebook page and below on MixmagTV.
