Wrong Headspace EP (UIQ)
8/10
Lee Gamble's started a label that shares its name with a company that developed software for smartphones and its first release is a four-tracker from an Estonian producer. It's as intriguing a start as you'd expect from Gamble, who makes music rooted in jungle, warehouse techno and the shadows you walk past but never through on the way home at 4am and plays DJ sets that fuck with audience preconceptions. So, 'Wrong Headspace' kind of reflects his taste: there's alien jungle on 'Iguana Love Bite', weird 140bpm pulsations on 'Lonely Is The New Black', autumnal 7am dusty house on 'Stuck In A Cube' and stompy techno on 'Wrong Headspace'. If you liked Gamble's last album 'Koch' you'll definitely dig this.
