​Music pulled from Omar S’ record label following assault accusation

Multiple tracks and a full-length record appear to have been pulled from FXHE on digital platforms, the record label headed up by Omar S, following accusations of a physical altercation between the Detroit DJ and Supercoolwicked earlier this month.

On November 5, Detroit-based singer-songwriter Supercoolwicked shared several photos on social media of injuries allegedly obtained as a result of a physical altercation with Omar S over unpaid fees.

The incident reportedly took place at Detroit venue Paramita Sound on Saturday (November 4), after Supercoolwicked claimed to have confronted the DJ in relation to $10,000 worth of unpaid royalties for a collaborative track released in 2021 on Omar S’ FXHE label. Read her statement below.

“Omar S put his hands on me last night,” she alleged. “Like smashed a glass on my head in PUBLIC cause I asked him where my money at.”

Omar S has since refuted Supercoolwicked’s claims, posting his own counter-allegations. He also posted photos of claimed injuries, calling the altercation “a vicious attack”, explaining: “I am offended and hurt by the lies and salacious attacks to my character". Read his statement here.

Music from artists including HiTech and John FM appears to have been removed from FXHE on digital platforms following the alleged incident. HiTech’s recent album ‘Détwat’ is no longer available digitally, while two of John FM’s collaborative tracks with Omar S have also been removed.

The joint track between Omar S and Supercoolwicked, ‘What’s Good for the Goose’, has also been removed from FXHE following the altercation.

John FM took to Twitter last week to speak on the incident, writing: “It’s come to my attention that Omar S has removed all music featuring me on the FXHE label from streaming platforms. Honestly? Wouldn’t have it any other way,” he wrote. “Love yall, be safe and stick up for yourself.”

HiTech also made a statement on Instagram last week, explaining: “Beating up on women is not what we stand on. We hope and pray that Supercoolwicked gets the support that she needs to heal from this traumatic situation and we ask that everyone puts the energy into that.”

Paramita Sound posted a statement on Instagram last week, explaining that they were "deeply saddened" by the events that took place on November 4. They added that they had cut off all business with Omar S and his label going forward. Read the statement in full here.

Representatives of Omar S told Mixmag that the investigation is still ongoing and that Omar S denies all claims of physical assault against Supercoolwicked.

Supercoolwicked has declined to comment due to the ongoing investigation by the Detroit Police Department.
