Munich's BLITZ nightclub announces closure after nine years
First launched in April 2017, BLITZ will close this summer for reasons "beyond control"
Munich's BLITZ nightclub has announced that it will close for good in 2026.
In a statement shared today (February 18), the venue's owners said that "all good things come to an end", confirming that the Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt club will host its closing weekend from Friday, July 31, through to Monday, August 3.

"BLITZ became a truly devoted music space, a temple of dance," the statement continues. "We always hoped to stay at this venue as long as possible, but for reasons beyond our control we have to set sail to new shores. We must go… and when we do, we do it in style."
Located within a former congress hall of the Deutsches Museum’s Forum des Techniks, BLITZ opened in April 2017, having hosted performances from DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Laurent Garnier, Ellen Alien, Jeff Mills, Miss Kittin, Surgeon and many more over the past nine years.
The venue has gained a reputation for its design, including a custom four-point VOID soundsystem and wall panels modelled after the behaviour of swarming animals in order to provide optimal acoustics.

"We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming love and support we received throughout all these years," BLITZ's statement continues. "With all the effort involved in the past decade, we feel it was worth it. Every smile, every moment of happiness, every long night on the dance floor filled our hearts with joy."
