Mr One Hundred
Calypso Fugitive (Mixpak)
7/10
Sleek, shiny, vibey futuro-carnival music from Mr One Hundred, who pumps out streamline techno-y workouts on this EP for Dre Skull's Mixpak. The label has a knack for digging up off-kilter party/pop music that takes inspiration from the Caribbean (see also: Palmistry, Murlo) as well as straight-up dealing in the real thing (check Skull's albums with Vybz and Popcaan), so this is another welcome drop. Mr One Hundred does with soca what Machinedrum does with footwork and jungle: catches the atmosphere and delivers it to a club in the year 3000.
